As part of our 90 for 90 anniversary campaign — which celebrates 90 years of Manx Blind Welfare Society — we’re delighted to share a fantastic, creative and community-spirited fundraising idea. Lorraine, a Sight Matters member and the previous owner of Ramsey's Ewenique craft shop, has chosen to take part in the challenge in a wonderfully hands-on way: by turning a local knitting project into 90 beautiful handmade doorstops.

A Community-Made Project

The doorstops are being created using knitted squares from a community knitting project based in St Paul’s Square in Ramsey, giving the project a strong local and community feel.

Lorraine plans to make the doorstops over several weeks, carefully crafting each one by hand before offering them for sale in support of Sight Matters.

Thoughtful, Handmade Designs

Lorraine has already produced a couple of doorstops, which have been shared with the Sight Matters team. Some designs feature an eye motif as a nod to Sight Matters, while others are colourful and simple — all designed to be practical, unique and full of character.

If you'd like to support Lorraine's 90 for 90 effort, you can contact at using her website.

Get Involved: Support 90 for 90

Lorraine’s doorstops will be sold as part of our 90 for 90 campaign, helping to celebrate our 90th year while supporting the ongoing work of Sight Matters.

You can find out more about the campaign, or make a donation, via our JustGiving or via our 2026 Supporters Pack.

A huge thank you to Lorraine for such a thoughtful and creative contribution to our 90th anniversary celebrations.
