Celebrating Young Writing Talent on the Isle of Man

Jan 30, 2025

Sight Matters Book Launch

Despite the blustery weather on Sunday (26.01.25), we had a truly wonderful afternoon celebrating incredible young Manx writers at the 2024 Creative Writing Competition Awards.

The event was filled with creativity and inspiration as we recognised the amazing talent of the island’s young storytellers.

A special Sight Matters' congratulations goes to Caoimhe, whose imaginative story, Invisible Charlie, was chosen by us to be featured in Green, a delightful book about Donk the dinosaur, who has a visual impairment, and which will be launched next month.

Meeting Caoimhe and celebrating her well-deserved achievement was a true highlight.

The local colourful book collection doesn’t stop with Green. It also includes Pink, Purple, Red, Yellow, and Blue, each supporting a fantastic local charity. We are proud to share that sales of Green will help Sight Matters continue supporting people with sight loss on the Isle of Man. It’s wonderful to see this initiative making such a positive impact across the community.

We are so grateful to everyone who braved the wind and rain to attend, and we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the young writers who participated. Your creativity and imagination are truly inspiring, and we can't wait to see where your writing journeys take you next.

A special thank you goes to author Robert G Cowley for organising this wonderful event and for bringing these fantastic stories to life by collaborating with local young talent. His dedication and vision have made this initiative a true celebration of creativity and community.

So, keep your eyes out for Green! It'll be on shelves very soon.
