Many people delay writing a will, often because it feels like a difficult subject to face. Yet without one, the law decides how your estate is distributed — and that may not reflect your personal wishes or modern family circumstances. Writing a will ensures your choices are respected, your loved ones are protected, and your affairs are handled exactly as you intend.
Will Writing Month provides a timely prompt to take that important step, while contributing to a local cause that supports independence and wellbeing for those with sight loss.
The process is straightforward. Before your appointment, gather:
The names and addresses of the people you wish to include as executors (those who will administer your estate), and
The names and addresses of your beneficiaries (those who will receive your estate or gifts).
The legal team at Callin Wild will guide you through any additional details required, ensuring everything is set out correctly and clearly.
Contact Callin Wild (details below) and mention the Sight Matters Will Writing Scheme.
Book your appointment with one of their private client solicitors.
The first meeting typically takes around 30 minutes.
Wills are usually prepared within the following two weeks.
A second appointment is arranged to sign and finalise the documents.
Once completed, Callin Wild can securely store your original will in their safe, free of charge. This “held to your order” service ensures your will remains protected and can be easily located when needed.
Through the scheme:
A single will costs £200 + VAT
Couples’ wills (for spouses or partners) cost £300 + VAT
Half of the proceeds go directly to Sight Matters, helping us continue our work across the Island.
It’s never too early to make a will. Major life events — such as buying a home, getting married, or starting a family — are ideal times to put one in place or review what you already have.
This year’s Will Writing Month isn’t just about legal paperwork — it’s about peace of mind, planning for your loved ones, and supporting a cause close to our hearts. Whether you're taking that step for yourself or nudging a parent or friend, this is a meaningful opportunity.
A big thanks to Marc Furness and his team at Callin Wild for partnering with Sight Matters again.
